Gone Girl Movie - Who Will Play Amy And Nick?

Last year

Everyone’s favourite book Gone Girl is going to be turned into a movie – so who should star in it?

Reese Witherspoon’s production company and 20th Century Fox own the rights to the novel, which should find its way to the big screen in the next year or so.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River.

Who should play the twisted but beautiful characters of Amy and Nick?

Nick Dunne

Nick is a ridiculously good looking former journalist who now owns a bar. He’s the primary suspect in Amy’s disappearance. He’s an unreliable narrator who hides certain details of his life from the reader. Nick is eager to please and also incredibly selfish. Who could play him?

Jon Hamm Nick Dunne

Jon Hamm

Jon is used to playing a charming, good looking asshole on Mad Men. He’s got the swag, the look, the charm and the great smile that Nick needs to have.

Michael Fassbender Nick Dunne

Michael Fassbender

Fassy is everywhere right now, and who better than this gorgeous hunk of a man to play a twisted character like Nick? This could be the role to turn him from cult favourite to big name star.

Bradley Cooper Nick Dunne

Bradley Cooper

After watching him in Silver Linings Playbook, you know that Bradley has the acting chops to pull off this role. Plus physically he is a perfect match for Nick.

Ryan Reynolds Nick Dunne

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan is the good looking everyman – he’s the guy you could have worked with, gone to uni with or noticed at the train station every day. He’s got the great smile and fun sense of humour, but we’ve seen him be darker in movies like Safe House.

Kim Kardashian's Ridiculous Pregnancy Outfits

Amy Dunne

Amazing Amy spends the first half of the book as a fun, sweet, smart, beautiful Cool Girl, glimpsed only through people’s memories and a series of diary entries. In the second half things take a turn, and we begin to see her multi-faceted personality. She’s always described as looking good for her age – she’s late 30s, so we don’t want to see any youngsters in this role!

Reese Witherspoon Amy Dunne

Reese Witherspoon

Reese’s production company owns the rights to the book – but she insists she’ll just be producing the film, not starring in it. But we think Reese would be the perfect Amy. She’s blonde and beautiful, and can charm absolutely anyone.

Rachel McAdams Amy Dunne

Rachel McAdams

We know Rachel can play a beautiful but manipulative chick – Regina George? She’s also played plenty of girl next door types, and could definitely pull off the different sides of Amy.

Charlize Theron Amy Dunne

Charlize Theron

Charlize is possibly even more beautiful than Amy is meant to be. Her role in Young Adult shows just how much range this lady has got – she can make anyone love her.

Gwyneth Paltrow Amy Dunne

Gwyneth Paltrow

It’s been a while since Gwyneth has had a challenging role. But this Oscar winner is the all American girl that Amy needs to be.
