The Top 12 on The X Factor Australia has been revealed, and there is some serious talent amongst this year’s crop of contestants!
Guy, Nat, Mel and Ronan each chose their final 3 on last night’s show, and there were tears from pretty much everyone.
So now it’s time to take a closer look at our finalists! Who do you think will win?
Under 25 Girls – Natalie Bassingthwaighte
18 year old Sydney girl Bella opened the entire season of The X Factor this year with her performance of Skinny Love. Despite forgetting the lyrics twice at boot camp, the judges put her through to home visits. She impressed guest judge Ke$ha, and found herself in Nat’s top 3. Singing is Bella’s first love, and she dropped out of high school to concentrate on making it in the music industry.
Angel has used her incredible singing voice to support her family, playing gigs at corporate events and charity events in Sydney. The 19 year old was a shoo-in from her first audition, and has the ability to sing pretty much anything. She’ll go far in the competition.
This year’s youngest contestant is 14 year old Shiane – and she’s also our only contestant from Darwin. The nervous and shy teen impressed the judges with her amazing singing voice, and guest judge Ke$ha insisted that Nat had to put her through to the finals. A superstar is starting to emerge!
Under 25 Boys – Mel B
18 year old lifeguard Adil is definitely going to popular amongst the female viewers! He had a break down during boot camp, with his nerves almost getting the better of him. He then lost his voice, but struggled through and delivered an inspiring performance. Adil has a Pakistani background and was born in England. He moved to the Gold Coast in 2008.
Jason comes from a tiny NSW town called Albert, which only has 12 residents. So the bright lights of New York were a bit of a change! The 18 year old singer has impressed with his strong singing voice, and will hopefully go far in the competition.
Returnee Josh made it through to boot camp last year, but lost to Johnny Ruffo. This year he worked even harder to impress the judges, and Mel decided that the time was right for Josh to go through to the live shows. We’re a little afraid of his neck piercing though. He’s very popular online.
Over 25s – Guy Sebastian
25 year old Samantha was once signed to Jive Records in the US, and but she was dropped before an album was ever released. A friend of Guy, she already looks like a popstar and has the voice to match.
41 year old Justin is the oldest contestant this year, and has not been in touch with his children for more than 12 years. He has since made contact with them since auditioning for the show. Last year’s runner up also came from this category, so could Justin go all the way?
Nathaniel is a Melbourne boy who was born in South Africa. The 25 year old makes his living as a vocal coach and wedding singer, and Guy decided it was the right time for the gorgeous Nathaniel to go through to the live shows.
Groups – Ronan Keating
What About Tonight
Teenage boys Brock, Luke, Christian, Mitchel and Tyrone all met over YouTube, and only got together in person a week before The X Factor auditions. They impressed guest mentors One Direction, and have already captured the hearts of thousands of teenage girls on Twitter. And they’re all single.
Brothers Jakiel, Izaia and Jaye and their best friend Joseph are returnees, making it through to boot camp in 2011. This year they came back better than ever, having worked hard to become a tight unit. They have some of the best voices in the competition, and we’re looking forward to seeing them perform at the live shows.
Good looking lads Jayden, Julian, Wil, Trent and Zach were put together by the judges at the end of boot camp, just like One Direction in the UK in 2010. They’re all talented singers, and could be extremely popular with the voters of Australia if they can deliver some strong live performances.
