2012 is half over, and we thought it was time to take a look at some of the new bands and singers that we've fallen in love with this year.

Some of these artists have been around for a while, and some of them are brand new. They've had varying amounts of success, but so far 2012 has been a big year for them. And some of them aren't technically musical artists -- but we're including them anyway.

We think all the artists on this list will go far, but we want to know which one is your favourite!

Carly Rae Jepsen

What can we say about this girl that hasn't already been said. Although she's been popular in Canada for a while now, Carly hit the big time when Justin Bieber noticed her song 'Call Me Maybe' and decided to sign her to his management company. It didn't take long before the song went number one all over the world.

Conor Maynard

Conor's been filming YouTube covers for a while, but after scoring a recording contract he looks set to take over the world! He sounds a bit like Justin Timberlake, which is never a bad thing. This 19 year old has already set the charts on fire with his song 'Can't Say No', and 'Vegas Girl' looks set to go the same way.

5 Seconds Of Summer

If you're over the age of 18 or don't spend a lot of time on Twitter, you might not have heard of 5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS). But these teenage boys from Sydney are about to get a whole lot bigger. They released their first EP on iTunes recently, and have been selling out gigs all over the place. They're huge online and we think it won't be long before they cross over to the ARIA charts.

Labrinth

A song you might have heard a lot of this year is 'Earthquake' by Tinie Tempah and breakthrough artist Labrinth. His debut album went to number 2 in the UK, and we think he could be the next big thing.

Janoskians

OK so they aren't exactly artists -- but they make funny music videos and we think they could do anything! This year the Janoskians have gone from a group of boys making YouTube clips to a group of boys who attracted the attention of the biggest media outlets in the country when a meet and greet at Luna Park got shut down. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Lana Del Rey

She came out of nowhere...kind of. It felt like one day suddenly everyone was talking about Lana Del Rey. Her album 'Born To Die' was released at the start of the year, and since then everyone has been obsessed with Lana.

Rita Ora

She's got the weight of Jay-Z and Roc Nation behind her, so Rita Ora was never really going to fail. But this year she burst onto the pop song with infectious songs like 'Party (How We Do)', as well as rumours that she was dating Rob Kardashian. Definitely one to watch.

Fun.

These guys have been around for a while, but their song 'We Are Young' absolutely exploded after it was featured on Glee. They've followed it up with the awesome track 'Some Nights'. Expect a lot more from these guys.

Everyone from The Voice

There are too many of them to list, but the past few months in Australian music have been absolutely dominated by contestants from The Voice. Of course Karise Eden was crowned the winner, but plenty of other big names have come out of the competition including Sarah DeBono, Rachael Leahcar and Darren Percival. But let's think of them all as one big happy group.
