N.E.R.D. is set to grace our shores this May and will rock Melbourne and Sydney for two exclusive live shows only. N.E.R.D. is the groundbreaking collective of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and rapper, Sheldon 'Shay' Haley. As the Neptunes, Pharrell and Chad are the most successful hit-making production duo this decade. Having given their midas touch to a stellar line up artists including Justin, Busta, Jay Z, Kelis, Brittany, No Doubt and Nelly.
N.E.R.D. is the Neptunes' eccentric alter ego - taking the guys out of the studio and on to the live stage. N.E.R.D. is a pioneering, breath of fresh air for urban music. They effortlessly traverse genres whilst keeping a firm foundation in hip hop. There is a strong current of spirituality behind their work - a belief in cosmic energy, higher forces and a shared love of Vulcan sensibilities. 'N.E.R.D. is just a basic belief, man' says Pharrell. 'People's energies are made up of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed. Energy cannot be destroyed'.
N.E.R.D.'s new album Fly or Die is the follow up to their groundbreaking 2002 debut In Search Of. From classic rock and Beatles-esque pop to old funk and new wave, the album finds N.E.R.D. dismissing former backup band Spymob and picking up the instruments themselves. Fuelled by grinding guitars, sexed up synth sounds, dirty funk basslines and Pharrell's breathy vocals, N.E.R.D. takes us on a musical journey with no boundaries or borders. Their explosive live shows are thrash-around, set your soul on fire affairs. Don't miss out.
