Vanessa Amorosi used to be a sugar sweet 18 year old when she hit the scene with her chartbusting song 'Absolutely Everybody' but it seems she ain't that innocent anymore, with the revelation that she's scored big bucks performing at functions for Melbourne gangland figures!And Ness has no gripes about that at all! In fact, she reckons they were the best clients she's ever had!
"It was absolutely amazing," Vanessa said of one particular gig for the daughter of convicted murdered Carl Williams.
"They had a room in the (Crown) casino all done up. I remember at some point in the night during the show thinking no one will get up and dance and if I start singin' bad I'm just gonna get shot."
Vanessa also recently sang at another event for the mob - this time a boat cruise on the Yarra River in Melbourne (of course)!
"They're the only clients who want you to eat and give you wine and are constantly catering and looking after you," she says.
"I'm not used to this in showbiz. Usually it's like, 'Amorosi and the band are here, take them to that room, get rid of them, hide them'."
But she admits the pressure can be a lot to deal with.
"I was like, 'Let's make sure it's a killer show, guys, or it could be a killer ending'.
