Craid David Not Scared Of Competition

17 July 2003

Craig David says that he isn't worried about the likes of Beyonce Knowles and Justin Timberlake on the charts. Speaking exclusively to LaunchUK from his London hotel suite, the R&B hunk admitted that while the tabloids have gone mental about the US pop giants, he's still happy doing what he's doing and isn't scared that they'll steal some of the limelight.

"Beyonce and Justin were always destined to be great solo artists because they are great entertainers. They can sing, they can dance, they just have the right characteristics to do their thing. The difference between them is I am me, as long as I do what I do, I'll never have problem. No one can do what I can do, I'm not gonna do dance routines or pyrotechnics 'cos people will think I'm straight out of NSYNC and I'm not gonna deck myself out in hotpants like Beyonce, though if I did it would probably cause a big storm like when I shaved off my beard."

So does that mean Craig is already thinking hard about what the follow-up to his second album, 'Slicker Than Your Average'? It seems not. "At the moment, I'm very much thinking about this album," he said. "I know the third album is round the corner but I think there's a still a lot of life in this album. So at the moment I really wanna concentrate on my new single."

In related news, tickets are on sale now for Craig David's October/November tour - appearing in Australia with his full band for the very first time. The chemistry between Craig and his band is spectacular and a must see for any fan. Don't miss out.
