The Veronicas VMAs After-Party Scandal!

If any of our Aussie exports could make it in the American music industry, you'd think The Veronicas could. They've had an American celebrity boyfriend (Ryan Cabrera), look good on the red carpet, nude photo scandals, have appeared on shows like TRL, they're cute, they're twins, they sing good AND they get coverage in American celebrity gossip sites like Perezhilton.com.

It looked like they were about to get their BIG break this week, after they were asked to perform alongside Leona Lewis at the most exclusive post MTV Video Music Awards after-party there is - the InTouch magazine shindig at the Chateau Marmont hotel - but all did not go as planned.

After rehearsing for hours beforehand, the girls' performance was undermined by terrible sound, which was so deafeningly loud that it muffled their vocals. Not good when you're getting your one chance in front of a crowd that includes Christina Aguilera, Michael Phelps, Lindsay Lohan, Demi Moore and Katy Perry.

After the event, the devastated Lisa and Jess told Fox News crews that their performance "went to sh**".

BUT there is one thing that could be the saving grace for the Veronicas in the US market -their current album 'Hook Me Up' was included in the event goody bag for guests attending.

Perhaps Christina will chuck it on when she gets home and ask them to sing on her next album??! Or maybe not.

Jess and Lisa are heading off to on a 13 date US tour before coming back to Oz for the Motorola ARIA Awards on October 19.
