Tyree Biography

Tyree
Fresh off a whirlwind tour of Australia with platinum selling DJ Nino Brown, Tyree, a member of the acclaimed Move The Crowd Records group 'Smashproof,' has been nominated for two awards at the second-annual Australian Urban Music Awards - Best Male Artist and Best New Artist for his debut album "Now or Never" as well as being the lead songwriter and performer on DJ Sir-Vere's "Turn It Up", which is also nominated for Best Video - all of which have been monumental achievements for Tyree and the prospering New Zealand based label MTC.

Along with his Smashproof co-horts, Tyree smashed onto New Zealand and Australian TV video shows with "Ride Til I Die" (from Juse's "Global Casino" album) which dominated chart shows, request lines and infected clubs across the two nations.

After being heralded in New Zealand as one of the best Urban/R&B albums of 2006, "Now Or Never" saw its Australian release earlier in 2007.

A seasoned veteran of touring both Australia and New Zealand, Tyree has been seen and heard on 2007's Big Day Out festival alongside DJ Sir-Vere on the Major Flavours set, as well as his own album release tour in New Zealand in 2006, not to mention opening for Jay-Z on the "Rock Da Block" tour in Australia the same year.

The albums singles "I Need A Girl" and the club banger "Ladies And Gentlemen" featuring Kardinal Offishall serve as a unique and almost cinematic insight into Tyree's personality and creative mind-state. Additionally, Tyree is also a veteran on the trans-tasman recording circuit with Tyree's remix to "Ladies And Gentlemen" featured on DJ Nino Brown's album, contributions to "So Fresh" and numerous other top-selling Australian Urban music compilations, and a standout performance with his Smashproof brethren on "Turn It Up", the lead single and video (shot in Sydney's Kings Cross district) to DJ Sir-Vere's 'Major Flavours - Australian Edition.'

Tyree's own "Now Or Never" also features contributions lyrically from: Majic Massey, Black Rob (Bad Boy Records) and Flashy (Ruff Ryders) plus Move The Crowd's latest local signee Ethical, as well as beats from Emile (Terror Squad, G-Unit, Remy Ma, Obie Trice) FBI (David Banner, Nelly) and Reality. The album has been mixed in New York by Cochise (Remy Ma, Beatnuts) and mastered at the world famous Sterling Sound.
