Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Break Up!

Nick Lachey has split from Vanessa Minnillo.

The former 'Newlyweds' star and the MTV presenter -- who began dating in 2006 -- have decided to end their relationship but insist they are still on good terms.

Vanessa's representative said: "They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another."

Although Vanessa recently insisted their relationship was stronger than ever, sources claim the break-up was inevitable.

One pal said: "They are still friends. It was the right thing for both of them to do."

In 2007, Nick -- who starred in MTV's 'Newlyweds' with ex-wife Jessica Simpson -- and Vanessa were rumoured to have got married in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas.

However, the 28-year-old beauty said the couple had no plans to tie the knot as they weren't ready for that kind of commitment.

She said: "We appreciate the days. I'm not going to put a time on things and say I'm going to do this by this time tomorrow. We are happy today - no pressure for tomorrow. When things fit into place and you know they're right, they're right."
